Tour Itinerary
11.30am Central Railway Station, Sydney
Stop 1 – The Grifter
Three homebrewing mates – Matt King, Trent Evans and Glenn Wignall – started Grifter while still working full-time day jobs. The team takes a hands-on approach with a simple maxim, ‘beers from Sydney.’ After years of gypsy brewing at Young Henrys, The Grifters now have a place of their own in Marrickville with an expansive taproom that welcomes both locals and their dogs.
Stop 2 – Willie the Boatman
The name Willie the Boatman is a part of the Tempe suburb’s colourful history. In 1830 Willie, a Scottish convict, was sent to work for A.B. Sparks, the owner of the new Tempe House. Willie’s job was to row A.B. Sparks, visitors and supplies across the Cooks River. Today “Willie the Boatman” is back in the lime light with a Micro-Brewery named after the Scotsman himself. Tucked away in St Peters, Sydney, the team’s always keen to share a beer with friends new and old.
Stop 3 – Staves Brewery
Staves Brewery is one of Sydney’s hidden treasures. Hidden within a little alley, Staves is an independent family brewery, urban beer garden, and live performance space. With a ‘hands on’ brewery located right behind the bar, they produce all their beers in house and do everything on premises from milling & mashing to conditioning & tapping.
Drop off – back at the pick up location approx 5pm

The Minor Details
- We recommend you indulge in a big breakfast before touring as a beer or two on an empty stomach is never a good thing.
- Due to the nature of beer tasting and Sydney Brewery Tour’s relaxed nature, we don’t run military precise tours, rather we have an organic tour where you can buy an extra beer or ask 1001 questions to the brewer. That’s why we don’t have exact times on our Itinerary.
- Please note that you will be visiting work sites and must under law wear wear closed-top shoes (no thongs or sandals) as a safety requirement.
- Because Sydney Brewery Tours visits working sites, on occasion breweries will be unable to accommodate visitors. If that occurs we can easily replace a brewery with another great beer venue.
- Our public tour requires a minimum of six people to run. If tours have less than six people we reserve the right to cancel to the tour. However, we will always seek to place you on an alternative tour.
- Our price includes everything – tasting sessions, a lunch, transport & guide. Should you wish to purchase extra beer along the way, make sure you bring some cash.
- Drinking beer by yourself can be harmful to your social skills, we recommend you bring a friend or two.
- Due to popularity, Sydney Brewery Tours are in high demand, so please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment.
